Guest Bags |
I think it’s a great idea to have your guest information
prepackaged and ready to give out instantly. When you
greet your guests give them an information package. It
should contain a brochure of basic church information
like programs, missions, and major activities such as
choir or Sunday School along with a who’s who with
contact information. Include a gift or two like mints
and a pen. If you have a big church then consider
including a map, and have the best places to park and
best entrances marked for certain activities. You want
them to be able to get around easily and feel
comfortable. This is very important and something I feel
a lot of churches miss. Most parents will go where the
kids are happy, so make a special effort for them. You
need a package just for kids and one just for youth.
These need to have age appropriate things in them.
Remember, they have to be cool and fun. (All kids love
chap stick, message bracelets, anything that has a light
in it, tee shirts, and candy. Small kids love anything
you can draw on, which is actually a pretty good thing
to have on-hand if they are staying in the congregation.
I’ve noticed a lot of visitors prefer to keep the kids
with them rather than send them to Children’s Church
just because they don’t know anyone.)
What about budget on these things? Simple – spend what
you can afford. But remember, a couple of dollars is a
small investment for a new member or family. And most of
the value will be added by your volunteers. You are
actually just giving your volunteers a good reason to
visit. No one turns down a visitor with gifts!
